PRAYERFUL REFLECTION (1)

MUSIC, Christ The Lord Is Risen TodayUMH #302
Words: Charles Wesley Music: Lyra Davidica; Public Domain

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia! Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia! Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!

Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia! Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia! Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!

Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia! Where’s thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia! Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!

Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia! Praise to thee by both be given, Alleluia!

Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia! Hail the Resurrection, thou, Alleluia!

King of glory, soul of bliss, Alleluia! Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!

Near the tombs of our life, be they physical or symbolic, we are named and claimed by the risen Lord. Lift your head when defeat, despair, and deep grief settle in. Look for the triumph of Christ. It is at hand. You are named and claimed. GREETING AND WELCOME
PRELUDE

Thee to know, thy power to prove, Alleluia! Thus to sing, and thus to love, Alleluia!

Opening Prayer (2)
Holy One, Justice-Seeker, Lover of Creation!
You are the restorer of life, the conqueror of all that is death-dealing in our hearts and in this world. Come and dance with us, dazzle us with your brilliance, move us to wakefulness –so that we can be risen with Christ and in Christ. Be with us now, we pray. Amen.

Children’s Echo Prayer

We offer thanks for dreamers true

we offer thanks for dreamers true

for all they are and all they do

for all they are and all they do.

Let us become dreamers too

let us become dreamers too

and bring new life to me and you

and bring new life to me and you! Amen! Amen!

SCRIPTURE

Isaiah 25: 6-9 (NRSV)
On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. REFLECTION

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

(Place your prayer concerns in God’s hands)

We pray this day for those we love who are suffering, Holy One. We lift up to you those who are broken, those who are estranged, those who we will not see this day.

We especially pray for those who have no earthly tables, or no place at a table, and so little daily bread

We confess this day that we have been slow to join the dance that brings life to all, brings love to all, brings sustenance to all. In silence, let us lift up our prayers of confession…

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Hear this good news! God has loved you from the very beginning. The invitation of Christ is never-ending because resurrection can happen at any moment. The Holy Spirit is transforming you even now! In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
All: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God! Amen! THE OFFERING

HYMN, “Lord Of The Dance” UMH # 261

Words: Sydney Carter Music: 19th Century Shaker tune Tune: Lord of the Dance Irregular with Refrain; Permission to podcast/stream the music in this service obtained from ONE LICENSE, License #731642

I danced in the morning when the world was begun, and I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,
and I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth. At Bethlehem I had my birth.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced for the scribe and the Pharisee,
but they would not dance and they would not follow me; I danced for the fishermen, for James and John;
they came to me and the dance went on.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;

I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be, and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced on the sabbath when I cured the lame, the holy people said it was a shame;
they whipped and they stripped and they hung me high; and they left me there on a cross to die.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced on a Friday and the sky turned black; it’s hard to dance with the devil on your back;
they buried my body and they thought I’d gone,
but I am the dance and I still go on.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

They cut me down and I leapt up high, I am the life that’ll never, never die;
I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be, and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.
